Selling Cookies

Jackie and Billy were the names of the two American boys. Jackie and Billy lived
in New York. They were eleven years old and were very good friends.
One day Jackie’s mother told Jackie to take twelve cookies and sell them in
the street at five cents each. “Don’t eat any of them and don’t give them to other
boys,” she said.
Billy’s mother also sent her son Billy to sell twelve cookies in the street at
five cent each. So the boys went into the same street with small baskets in their
hands to sell their cookies. Two hours passed and Billy sold only one cookie. He
wanted to eat very much and he decided to buy one of Jackie’s cookies. He said,
“Jackie, will you sell me one of your cookies? I’ve got five cents now.”
“Certainly, I shall”, answered Jackie. He was very happy to have some money
now, because he also wanted to eat. “Now I’ll buy one of your cookies, Billy, ”
said Jackie. He gave Billy the five cents and ate the cookies with a good appetite.
Billy and Jackie sold each other their cookies and then ate them. After a short time
there were no more cookies.
